Why do I need SecureIT?

Do I need SecureIT if I have Norton/McAfee/other anti-virus protection on my computer?

Answers:Excellent! We love to see that you have taken the time to protect your computer from Internet security issues. SecureIT will give you the same protection and more.

A recent survey conducted by the National Cyber Security Alliance found that the majority of computer users either did not have their anti-virus protection installed correctly, or did not have it updated. SecureIT is fully automated. We will install it for you and once installed, you don't have to manage the software to make sure your protection stays updated. With SecureIT it is taken care of for you automatically. With Norton or McAfee you must install, maintain, and make sure the service stays updated.

In addition, besides up-to-date protection from spyware, viruses, and other malicious programs, SecureIT will automatically keep your system current with critical patches to your Microsoft operating system. Most people don't understand patches, let alone take the time to stay current. Yet, without these patches your computer and/or network can easily be compromised. In addition, if you subscribe to our SecureIT Plus package, the service will also provide ongoing maintenance by optimizing file storage and disk defragmentation for faster PC performance. These services are not included with Norton and McAfee anti-virus protection software.

Support for SecureIT is free and the service is guaranteed.* If you experience problems with an Internet-delivered issue while using SecureIT, we will fix your computer free of charge. With Norton and McAfee you pay for support calls, and if you experience problems with an Internet-delivered issue, you will pay to receive assistance.

It seems more expensive, why?

Answers:To get the same protection from Norton, McAfee, or another company you will have to purchase multiple programs. SecureIT is actually priced about the same as if you were going to buy Norton Internet Security or other similar products. With SecureIT you get it all in one service, and you don't have to maintain and update it.

Will you (or someone else) have access to my computer if I use SecureIT?

Answers:Absolutely not. SecureIT was built with your security and privacy as first priority. All the updates, scanning, and protection happen from your computer and nothing is sent to us outside of the reporting statistics which are made fully available to you on our reporting website and through our monthly email summary. The only time we have access to your machine is when you explicitly grant it to us during your use of the Professional Installation or Remote Support request. Even then we require that you put in a one-time use code that allows your computer to connect to our Operation Center granting us permission to assist you.

Do I still have to have a separate anti-virus program?

Answers:No, SecureIT will provide you with everything you need to safely navigate the Internet and effectively and efficiently use your computer.

Is there anything that I need to do to keep things updated?

Answers:No, the value of this service is that it applies all updates and runs all of its various scans behind the scenes without you having to worry.

Do I have to leave my computer on all of the time?

Answers:No, if you happen to have your computer off at the time the program runs its various scanning processes and updates, they will automatically run the next time that you turn your computer on.

How do I know that I am being protected?

Answers:You will receive a monthly email detailing the activities that have been executed by your SecureIT software. In addition you can check the Online Reports anytime, which are updated every 24 hours.

What if I have/use a firewall?

Answers:Since our service never contacts your computer, and the vast majority of firewalls are designed to block INCOMING traffic, this software is compatible with 99+% of all firewalls.

What happens if I get a virus or some type of spyware on my computer?

Answers:In the very unlikely case that you do get a virus or spyware threat on your computer, we will do our best to remove the problem at no cost.*

How does the guarantee work?

Answers:SecureIT provides the industry's only guaranteed computer protection. In fact, if your computer suffers from an Internet-related issue while using SecureIT, we will remove the threat or pay to have the machine repaired.*

* In order to qualify for the guarantee, a user must have incurred the threat on the machine while SecureIT was installed. We perform a complete PC cleanup during the professional installation process. Only PCs using the professional installation qualify for the guarantee. GSC reserves the right to deny the guarantee claim if the threat is deemed to be pre-existing or self-inflicted. Maximum remedy is $100 to be paid towards the repair of the end user's PC. GSC, at its sole discretion, will determine when it is appropriate to engage an outside computer repair entity.
