Network Operations Engineer

Granite State Communications is seeking qualified candidates for a Network Operations Engineer. The Network Operations Engineer will maintain and manage a vast network, server, and application architecture within a fast-paced environment. This role functions as part of a disciplined team with a dedicated focus delivering Telephony and Internet services. This team manages every deployed network element including but not limited to routers and switches, softswitchs, DWDM, NID’s.  Technologies include but not limited to MPLS, QOS, Sonet, TDM, DNS, DHCP, PPPOE and Radius.  Routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, SNMP, VRRP, LAF, Router Security and Static routing. The successful incumbent will thrive on change but focus on the operational stability of all supported platforms. This position seeks intelligent, forward thinking, collaborative-minded, and adaptable entry level engineers.

What are the Duties and Responsibilities?

  • Must have the ability to follow defined procedures and escalation paths for service delivery with regards to an event driven environment.
  • Provide complete ownership of any vendor/manufacturer issues impacting service delivery or customer experience worldwide. This responsibility begins with the initial investigation and identification process and continues through final resolution. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Responsible for the identification and coordination of technical impact to all entities from monitoring systems or customer contact.
  • Work with external and internal teams coordinating and troubleshooting network events.
  • Providing timely and accurate network technical assistance to internal teams by communicating technical details and status to customer service centers, technical support, and executive management teams during network events and major outages.
  • Solid understanding of IPv4, IPv6, and QOS.
  • Experience in server-based technology, such as Microsoft, SQL and Linux. Apache Web servers in different areas of the network (speed test, syslog page, MTRG web pages).
  • Knowledge of voice transport protocols, PRI, T1 circuits, QOS,  codecs, sip trunking, sip phone setup and troubleshooting.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Solid background in network administration and architecture.
  • Knowledge of IP, wireless technologies (is a plus), routers, switches, Ribbon C15 soft switch and other IP concepts.
  • Knowledge of Wireshark – able to run Wireshark captures on vlans, examine the data, and determine the issue (IP conflicts, broadcast storm, DDoS, and misconfigured equipment)
  • Knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools, ticketing systems and best practices is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with field engineering teams and supporting telephony/Internet customers.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Will be required to work flexible schedule.
  • On call rotation is required as well as overnight maintenance activities after hours as needed.

Support Services Supervisor

The Support Services Supervisor supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment, including vehicles.  In addition, monitors inventory purchasing process and stockroom control.    This individual will be held to high leadership and performance standards.

What are the Duties and Responsibilities?

  •  Oversees the daily work activities of all assigned personnel in the Support Services Sections.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a continual preventative maintenance program for equipment.
  • Monitors the maintenance of the interior and exterior of all Company buildings, grounds, and equipment to insure overall upkeep and cleanliness.  Ensures that our facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
  • Conducts on-going assessment of facilities to identify needed improvements and repairs.
  • Ensures the performance, condition and reliability of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment including vehicles, etc. and insures the efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and practices.
  • Coordinates and oversees the activities of all outside contractors and maintenance personnel.  Insures completed work is inspected, meets specifications, objectives and safety standards.
  • Monitors the Department purchase order process including pricing, ordering, and receiving of materials and supplies.  Ensures inventory management and stockroom control and procedures adhere to Company procedures.
  • Seeks ideas to improve Department production, processes, and overall performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • CDL-A preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of supervisory and business management experience.
  • Janitorial services and grounds work experience. Working knowledge in operation and maintenance of facility management services.  Knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
  • Able to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Able to guide and motivate employees toward achieving objectives.
  • Able to work in high pressure situations.

Network Installation/Maintenance Technician

**We provide CDL-A on the job training and pay for your first tests!!**

Granite State Communications is seeking qualified candidates for a Network Installation/Maintenance Technician. The I/M Technicians are responsible for the installation, repair, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of inside and outside plant facilities and telecommunications equipment including voice and data networks; and broadband services.

What are the Duties and Responsibilities?

Performs installation, maintenance, trouble isolation and repair of telecommunications and data equipment as engineered and designed, using hand and/or power tools. Typical installations may include some or all of the following steps:

  • Verifies order with customer and consults with customer as to type and location of equipment.
  • Makes plans on how to bring wire from pole to building and how to run wire inside of the building.
  • Climbs poles, runs wire to building and makes connection.
  • Installs inside wiring which may include stapling wire along wall and drilling holes.
  • Operates power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, winches, etc. and hydraulic equipment such as aerial lifts (bucket), diggers, derricks mounted on trucks, etc.
  • Works directly with residential and business customers in person to advise, configure and install services; and sells Company services and products.
  • Performs Standby Duty and weekend work on a scheduled rotation.
  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls as required.


What are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3 to 5 years related experience in telephone construction, maintenance, repair, basic electricity, voice and data networks
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able to obtain New Hampshire Commercial Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
  • Must pass all required alcohol and drug testing and DOT physical examinations.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to lift up to 100 pounds.

Sales/Technical Service Center Representative

Granite State Communications is seeking qualified candidates for a Sales/Technical Service Center Representative with a successful track record in telephone and internet sales as well as first level technical support for telephone and internet customers. They will be responsible for the processing and completion of all trouble tickets, line records, service order information, trouble analysis reports, customer contact forms, service attitude measurement forms, and other requirements of the Service Center. They will also sell the company’s services to new and existing customers, process orders from customers and answer questions. The Representatives will achieve weekly, monthly and annual sales objectives.

What are the Duties and Responsibilities?

  • Position requires evening hours and weekend day hours.
  • Receives, investigates, answers questions and records customer reported troubles including testing and dispatching troubles to the appropriate individuals following established Department procedures.
  • Completes trouble tickets following established Department procedures. Assists in the update of documented practices and procedures for the Service Center.
  • Maintains constant surveillance over troubles and security alarm system status; advises appropriate personnel of any problems on a timely basis.
  • Obtains quality of service feedback information from customers on all troubles and installs following established callback procedures.
  • Prepares service orders following established Department procedures. Utilizes the computer for all Service Center applications.
  • Understands the service order assignment procedures and scheduling techniques; closing the service order and posting the line records.
  • Working knowledge of local testing functions.
  • Achieve the monthly sales objectives as set by the Company.
  • Performs sales and service functions to include selling, initiating and follow up with customers in resolving issues related to service orders, bill inquiries, complaints and other inquiries. Makes sound decisions that will result in customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares, processes, reviews and monitors various documents including customer contracts and change in service. Prepares and calculates balance adjustments and rates for customers.


What are we looking for?

  • 2+ years of college or equivalent work experience
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in sales, customer service and telecommunications including Internet.
  • Understanding of computer / modem / router issues and ability to troubleshoot over the phone with customer.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills (friendly, courteous, helpful).
  • Professional business manner, attitude, and speech.
  • Ability to resolve disagreements with ease and comfort.
  • Able to follow through a problem until a satisfactory solution is reached by both customer and Company.
  • Must be highly organized and capable of handling a number of sensitive and important issues simultaneously.
  • Must be multi task -oriented with an excellent sense of priority, logic and objectivity; exercises good judgment.
  • Proficient with database, spreadsheet, and word processing computer programs.
  • Able to touch-type 30 to 40 wpm.
