What should I expect during the fiber installation process?

Our standard professional fiber installation includes setup and configuration of one computer and router and verification of connectivity and speed. ¹ For new fiber internet service, we’ll install a box on the exterior of your home with an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). It contains the electronics to convert a signal of light from fiber into usable phone and internet. We will also install a box in your basement to supply power to the ONT. This will include a battery in case of a power outage, and it will power your service for up to eight hours. Longer life batteries (up to 30 hours) are available. If you sign up for service with a 12-month agreement, we’ll waive the $125 installation fee.

Looking to connect more than one computer? With our Networking option² our technician will connect up to 5 devices for you (desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, e-readers, and gaming consoles) for $128 (receive $25 off if you request this service at the time that your Internet is installed). We’ll establish security encryption settings on your router, and we can set up your printer and file sharing for connected computers and wireless devices. Rates for additional work are available upon request.

¹ Standard Professional Installation excludes installation of network interface cards, modems/routers not supplied by GSC, resolving software conflicts, firewall configuration, and connecting peripheral equipment. Rates available upon request if weekend, night, or holiday installation or repair work is needed.
